There was a fire in an ESS integrated with a PV facility in Haenam, Korea. E2 News reported that the fire started at 5 p.m. on May 27, eventually causing KRW 467 million of damage before extinguished. This is Korea’s 27th ESS fire since 2017 when the government started aggregating data.
The media elaborated that the fire-struck ESS used 500kW PCS and 1842MWh li-ion batteries. Sources said that battery aging or BMS error might have triggered the fire.
