Emission from ETS businesses decreased in 2019

The GHG emission from ETS (emission trading schemes) applied companies decreased in 2019, for the first time since 2015 when the scheme was implemented in Korea. The Ministry of Environment said that ‘power generation’ industry recorded the deepest decrease with -8.6% compared to 2018 thanks to fuel change from coal to LNG as well as lower operation rate.

On the other hand, steel industry showed a 7.1% emission increase due to increased steel production.
