KEPCO installed catalyst filter on a diesel power plant

KEPCO held a dedication ceremony for the ‘1MW catalyst filtration facility’ which can reduce PM and NOx emission by over 90% at the same time. The facility is installed at a diesel power plant on Yeonpyeong Island. KEPCO has developed the system in cooperation with Hyundai Materials and Heesung Catalysts.

Korea has adopted a new rule in May 2019 to regulate emissions from island-placed diesel generators over 1.5MW. KEPCO is implementing filtration systems in response to the rule.
