Universities receive grants with new energy grad schools

MOTIE selected eight universities to create energy industry related tracks and graduate schools under government aids. Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and Jeonbuk National University sets graduate schools researching grid flexibility and PV+AI integration.

The Other six universities will create new tracks training specialists in hydrogen, energy safety, nuclear plant decommissioning, resource development, energy transaction, and energy management. Tracks will receive up to KRW 500 million per year, and graduate schools will receive up to KRW 1 billion per year.

The government is planning to set more than 10 ‘energy convergence graduate schools’ by 2024.
